Life Drawings

Yesterday we had a life modelling class and I'm really happy with my charcoal drawings!

The following sketches are from an evening of life drawing and drinking beers at 'Dr. Sketchy's anti-art School' (november 5th). It was great fun and my first time drawing life (partially) nudes.
I'm not happy with every sketch, but it was a good exercise, looking forward to doing that a lot more!

Hello everybody!

Hi there!

My name is Else and I'm an art student on the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague, the Netherlands. I Just started the preparatory year and I want to study Fine Arts next year.
The reason I created this blog, is to share my sketches and other works.
First I will show some of my sketches (I don't have a scanner, so I just made pictures of my sketchbooks with a camera, sorry for the bad quality).

Trip to the Blijdorp Zoo in Rotterdam.

Portrait of another redhead.

Here I went to this theatreplay called Hondsdagen, it was really weird in my opinion; people running into walls, a man pretending to be a dog, real heavy dances and yelling. There was some great music, but over all just not my cup of tea I guess.

The seven sins, a school assignment, these are just some orientational ink drawings, expanding work will follow later.

Random

Here are two other plays I attended with school, the first was called 'Zoek het lekker zelf uit" (just the fiirst photo) and it was actually a young teenage-ish play, but it was alright. I'm really trying to capture just the form here, just practicing, and I think I'm getting better at it (especially when you see my drawings of a few months back, maybe I'll put them on as well).
The second one was called 'Onze paus by Arnon Grunberg', this was yet another weird play, but it was fun doodling around during. I tried this other way of drawing, the one you don't lift your pencil that much, and I gained some cool sketches out of it.

This is my other sketchbook, I draw in both of them, but started in this one. I purchased it in London, when I was there on a trip with my boyfriend. So the first few drawings are made in London.
I thought it was a really cool city, beautiful architecture, friendly people, funny food and lots and lots to see.

This left drawing was just a woman on the train en the right drawing is of my niece Arle, she is around six hours old when I made this. It's my sisters daughter and she is really tiny and cute.

Random people on the train and such.

This year I went on vacation with my best friend and took my first plane-flight! It didn't scare me or something and it was only an hour and a half-flight, haha. We first went to Montpellier in France for seven days and then another six days to Paris. It was a lot of fun and we saw a lot of cool stuff which I will maybe add later.

Here are some monkey studies I did for an assignment at school, gotta love them monkeys!

Random people I met or didn't meet.

I will add sketches more regularly, so that I can explain them a bit more, this was just a whole pile at once, so you'll see more from me!
Thanks for looking at my stuff and don't be shy to leave a comment.

Toodles!!
